1ère ES à Hugo Hamilton

Dear Hugo Hamilton,
We are a group of 28 motivated students, aged 17, who are in the European section of our school: Chabrières High school, in the suburb of Lyon, France.
We are very glad to take part in this new session of the ASSISES DU ROMAN, all the more so since our class had the opportunity to spend a short week in Dublin just a month ago. That's why The Speckled People is very interesting to us, since it reminds us of Ireland, and we thus feel closer to your book, your story, your country!
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with you. We hope we will be able to exchange with you so as to go deeper into your novel!
For starters, we have a few questions and we are looking forward to your answers!
Best regards,

The students from 1 ES/L, Chabrières

OUR QUESTIONS:

1) Why did you decide to write this book through a child's vision? Was it like a form of therapy for you? (Charlotte)

2) Was it hard for you to reproduce a child’s vision? Were there specific guidelines or strategic devices that you followed or imposed to yourself? (Zoé)

3) What about the identity you chose in your book? If the story is based on your life, why not an autobiography? (Alizée and Félix)

4) When did you decide to write this autobiography? Had it always been something you wanted to do? (Klara)

5) What happens right after the end of the story? Where did you go? (Charlotte)
